Steven Filie
Social Sciences Instructor
Steven Filie joined Beacon Academy from Muchin College Prep where he served as the Honors & AP World History and AP Human Geography Teacher. Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, Steven moved to the Midwest to study history at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Upon graduation, Steven began his teaching career as a Teach For America corps member and high school Social Studies teacher for Indianapolis Public Schools. While working in Indianapolis, he earned a Master of Arts in Teaching from Marian University. Steven is currently studying to earn his Master of Arts in American History through the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History and Gettysburg College. As a member of the Social Sciences Department, Steven serves as Beacon Academy's American History and Global History instructor. When he is not teaching history, Steven enjoys running, reading, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
