EXPERIENTIAL PROGRAM
Experiential Program (XP) is an 11th and 12th grade interdisciplinary program earning students both an English and Social Science credit each year. Over the two years, the courses will provide a variety of learning experiences in history, sociology, political science, business, and economics, along with the literary, visual, and cinematic arts. Students will further develop self-advocacy and interpersonal skills as they enter and explore the community outside of their educational environment.
In Year 1, students who commit to this unique and distinguishing program will use art and history as a lens to study various historical movements and post-secondary career connections. The Year 2 curriculum will involve a personalized approach where each student will identify their purpose and passion and learn more about their role within systems and societies. Year 2 will culminate in a semester-long internship, research project, and service project with the goal of learning
how to engage in and support one’s community while developing both passion and knowledge. The XP is intended
to provide Beacon Academy students
with a challenging and innovative program that incorporates Beacon’s core values while engaging with life beyond high school academically and practically, exploring the relationship between theory and practice and developing skills that will be critical in their post- secondary experience.
