Our Philosophy

Beacon Academy is an independent, non-denominational secondary school serving families from all over the Chicagoland area. Beacon’s educational philosophy is based on Montessori principles and the best practices of independent schools, and students also have the opportunity to pursue the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.  Incoming students possess a passion for independent learning and a deep commitment to engaging in the real world.   Beacon strives for a student body that is diverse and inclusive, respectful of all members of its immediate and global communities, empathetic, and eager to be socially responsible.

Beacon Academy seeks students from a wide variety of backgrounds and academic settings who embody our core values and mission. We evaluate applicants with an emphasis on best fit for the school and the family, taking into consideration current school records, extracurricular interests, student essays, and personal interactions.  Beacon Academy adheres to the National Association of Independent Schools’ Principles of Good Practice for Admission and Financial Aid and maintains the highest standard of ethical conduct throughout the selection process.

Statement of Nondiscrimination

Beacon Academy does not discriminate against prospective students or their families on the basis of race, gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, political and social values, culture, gender identity, religion, physical ability, family structure, and learning style in its administration of admission and financial aid policies.
