Virtual Tour

This virtual tour of Beacon Academy is set to an original piece of music produced by Beacon student Jeremy D'Angelo in Derek Song's Advanced Music Studio class and features Beacon student Aditi Bharadwaj on violin. Enjoy!

Beacon Academy's location in the heart of downtown Evanston provides students with unique proximity and access to public transportation and an incredible array of cultural and educational institutions and restaurants. Beacon has an open campus, so students are able to visit these and other locations during lunch. Students who prefer to stay on campus for lunch have access to the Rotary Cafe where food may be purchased or brought in from home. Sports practices and games, service learning activities, and theater performances take place throughout Evanston and the Chicagoland area.

Our 22,000 square foot facility features an open floor plan that supports interdisciplinary learning. The first floor common area is home to our student-run coffee cart and also features moveable tables and chairs and other comfortable furniture where small groups of students and faculty gather. Along the perimeter of the first floor are offices dedicated to College Counseling, Athletics, and Admissions. Upstairs is a large community room with a kitchen that serves as a focal point of our space. Here, students and teachers can regularly be found playing chess, sharing a meal, or collaborating with one another. Weekly community meetings and other all-school events also take place in the community room. Dedicated quiet zones throughout the building allow students and faculty space to recharge and work independently.

Beacon's classrooms feature ergonomically designed furniture, much of it on wheels to create a range of different configurations depending on the classroom activity. Each classroom has one entire wall devoted to a whiteboard and a projector with laptop hookup. Three fully equipped science laboratories provide space for students to conduct experiments and practice for Science Olympiad competitions. Visual art is displayed prominently throughout the building, and a dedicated arts studio and separate black box theater with music equipment further enhance our arts programming.

While we hope your family will find time to visit Beacon Academy and see our school in action, we're also pleased to offer a virtual tour, above, highlighting may of the spaces and features noted here. The video is set to an original piece of music produced by Beacon student Jeremy D'Angelo in Derek Song's Advanced Music Studio class and features Beacon student Aditi Bharadwaj on violin. Enjoy!
