Michael joined Beacon from Niles West High School where he taught Honors Biology and AP Environmental Science. Prior to transitioning to education, Michael spent several years as a field biologist and researcher in various locations around the country. He managed a White seabass stock enhancement program off the coast of California, worked to restore Brook Trout populations in the Appalachians of West Virginia, and is a published author in the North American Journal of Aquaculture from his time as a researcher at Southern Illinois University. Locally, he has worked with students from all ages as a biologist for the Shedd Aquarium and Forest Preserve District of Cook County. Michael has a bachelors degree in biology and is currently working toward a Master of Arts in Teaching at Northeastern Illinois University. He is a former Illinois state chess champion and enjoys spending his time hiking, fishing, and playing the guitar.
