Joe Freeman

Director of College Counseling
 
Prior to arriving at Beacon Academy, Joe Freeman served as the Dean of 11th and 12th Grade at Randolph School in Huntsville, Alabama. He instituted a student leadership program and redesigned the college counseling curriculum while at Randolph. An active member of NACAC, SACAC, and ACCIS, Joe served as co-chair of SACAC's Government Relations Committee and helped to organize state and area college counseling initiatives throughout Alabama. He also volunteered as a community financial aid counselor through the North Alabama Center for Educational Excellence. Before moving to Alabama, Joe taught English and coached at The Taft School in Watertown, Connecticut, and he served as the Assistant Director of College Counseling at Hyde-Woodstock (CT). Joe earned his BA in English and History from Hamilton College and his MA in English Literature from the Bread Loaf School of English at Middlebury College. Joe loves to read and travel, and he has played golf on every continent except Antarctica. He currently lives in Rogers Park.
