Chris Swan

Science Instructor

 

Chris Swan joined the Beacon Academy faculty in 2018 following a successful career as an Environmental Scientist in Chicago. Chris is a native of Evanston who holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University and a master's degree from National Louis University. Chris also has experience teaching Biology, Chemistry, Astronomy, Geoscience, and Environmental Science. Passionate about the outdoors, Chris enjoys fishing, hiking, biking, running, and spending time in nature with his two children and dog. As a teacher of IB Physics and Integrated Science, he aims to explore the wonders and curiosities of scientific phenomenon collectively with his classes leading to authentic discovery and understanding. Chris strives to make science engaging through hands-on experiences promoting self-discovery, scientific exploration, and a curiosity about the world we inhabit.
