Student ActivitiesSTUDENT-DIRECTED CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES

In addition to visual and performing arts and athletics/fitness activities, Beacon offers student-led clubs and other extracurricular activities. Each year these offerings are driven by students' passions, talents, and interests. At Beacon, space is created each day for groups to meet in order to not fall into the trap of creating conflicts and over-scheduling students. This is done intentionally to promote balance of students' independence, academics, and other co-curricular activities at Beacon. In the beginning of the academic year, a Club Fair is held to introduce students to options and encourage participation. Faculty help support these activities but students direct and lead them. Proposals for new clubs must be submitted to the Dean of Students. Varying from year to year, offerings include Model UN, American Sign Language, Chess, Science Olympiad, Dungeons & Dragons, Newspaper, Literary Magazine, Yearbook, Outdoor Club, and Pride Party.
